•This is not a program for making friends (although this may happen!).
•This is a program about understanding the social world – observing, perspective-taking, making decisions and following through.
•Kids who aren’t “behaving” or aren’t acting in a way that is “expected” may not know how to share space with others effectively.
•These programs will run weekly during the school terms. Ideally these groups will remain stable throughout the term.
•This program is about developing and strengthening motor skills, with a side benefit of working on teamwork and turn taking skills.
•All motoring along programs are developed and reviewed with an AHPRA-registered physiotherapist.
•This program will be tailored to the needs of the individual kids in the group.
•Initially, this program will be predominantly offered during school hours.
•This is a good program for kids who struggle to identify and name emotions (in themselves or others) or who experience anxiety.
•This program is NOT therapy.
•Focus on talking about anxiety and developing some personalised strategies to help to better manage.
•This may be a good fit program for kiddos who are not quite ready for our Social Cognition program.
•6-week program for 16-19 year olds.
•2 hr sessions, during school hours.
•Support workers welcome but not necessary.
•Week 1 – Introduction and goal setting.
•Week 2 – Feelings, emotions and communication.
•Week 3 – Approachability and why it’s important.
•Week 4 – Friendships and relationships.
•Week 5 – Organising life (simple budgets, meal planning, scheduling, self-care).
•Week 6 - Social gathering – putting it all together.
